Choosing the right fabric can make or break a costume. Spend some time analysing photos to get an idea for the correct colour of the fabric and texture you need. Do you want it shiny or does the fabric need to be dyed? Popular fabrics used to make costumes include cotton, satin, lycra spandex and stretch vinyl. The best recommended cotton to use is Kona cotton. However Polyester will not crease as easy and is good for sewing pleats.
